Straight answers · AI for hair and beauty

How to set up AI for your salon.

The short answer: teach it your business before you ask it anything. Ten minutes spent telling AI your services, your prices, your team and how you speak to clients is the difference between generic advice and answers you would actually use. Most people skip the setup, which is why most people think AI is average.

I'm Vanessa Bellden, and I've spent twenty years inside the Australian hair and beauty industry. I use AI every day to run my own business, and the single thing that separates people who get value from it and people who give up in a week is the setup. Not the tool, not the prompts, the setup.

Why generic AI gives you generic answers

A fresh AI chat knows nothing about you. It does not know you run a colour-focused salon, that your average ticket sits where it does, that Tuesdays are quiet, or that you would never say "hey girl" to a client in writing. So it answers for an imaginary average business, and the answer reads like it. The fix is not asking better questions. The fix is making sure it knows who is asking.

What to feed it, once

One thing to leave out: your clients' personal details. Names, numbers and histories stay in your booking system. AI does not need them to be useful, and your clients' privacy is not a fair trade for convenience.

Then give it a memory

The second step most people miss: set up dedicated project spaces for the jobs you will come back to, one for client messages, one for your numbers, one for marketing. Done once, it stops asking you the same questions every time and starts behaving like someone who works in your business.

The walkthrough, if you want it

This exact setup is what the Kai Haus AI Starter Kit walks you through: how to set your AI up properly, step by step, and why it is worth doing, plus a prompt library of 44 prompts written in hairdressing language and six project recipes so it stops asking you the same questions every time. It is $49. One-Off. No Subscription. Yours To Keep.

Set it up this week, not someday.
