How to use AI to read your salon's numbers.

The short answer: export your sales and wages figures from your booking system and payroll, hand them to a properly set up AI, and ask for the read in plain English: what moved, what it means, what to do. The monthly report you have been putting off becomes a ten-minute read. The catch is knowing which numbers are healthy, because AI does not.

Nobody got into this industry to do spreadsheets. I have spent twenty years inside it, and the owners I rate most are usually the ones most behind on their numbers, because they are busy behind the chair. This is the job AI genuinely takes off your plate, done right.

What a monthly read should cover

The trap: AI will invent a benchmark rather than admit it does not know one

Ask a general AI "is my wages percentage good?" and it will answer confidently, usually from overseas figures that do not transfer to Australian salons. US salons run completely different economics. Every benchmark above is Australian: ATO Small Business Benchmarks first, then twenty years of real Australian salon data. Give your AI the right targets and it becomes genuinely useful. Let it guess and it becomes confidently wrong.
